What is the Fractional COO?
Hi, I’m Jen Dennard. I’ve spent the last 10 years working in operations in early stage startups. I’ve seen it all—high growth, no growth, and everything in between. Right now, I lead operations and customer experience at Pulley—we make it easier for anyone (truly anyone!) to start a company.
The Fractional COO is my semi-monthly newsletter where I share articles to help founders building out operations and solving strategic challenges in early stage startups.
You’ll be a good fit:
If you’re trying to run the operations of a team or a startup—you might be a founder, a chief of staff, or just a teammate who is helping out with operations in your “spare” time.
If you believe building strong operational practices are the key to building an effective team and company —or you’re open to being persuaded that they do.
If you’re frustrated by advice that doesn’t fit your stage, your budget, or your mentality.
What can I expect if subscribe?
Every other week, you’ll receive a newsletter providing practical advice and guidance on topics like
Operations: How do I hire a good accounting firm? When do I need a parental leave policy?
Team: How do I structure my customer success team? How do I set up a feedback process?
Strategy: How can we prioritize what’s most effective? What types of metrics should we be tracking at this stage?
Each post will include
When and why you should (or shouldn’t ) care about this topic
Top actions you can take now
Bonus actions and plans for the future
Who is Jen?
Besides leading teams at Pulley, I’m also the cofounder and COO of Range, which builds communication software for teams. In other roles, I’ve led operations and strategy at Productable, built out people operations at Medium, consulted on DEIB, and even published papers in game theory and political science.
